Master guitarist, Carlos Hayre pioneered the use of
the "Cajon" as a percussion instrument in the "vals",
the most typical type of music of Peru. He was author of a plethora
of compositions of pop and traditional Peruvian -Cuban and Latin-American
music and composed, Saguatecumbia, which was a big that was a
big hit in 1965.
Between the years 1956 and 1967 Carlos fronted big bands such as the "Havana
Cubans" in the company of utmost popular singer and recording super-star
Virgilio Marti.
He was also the musical arranger for Matalache, a musical theatre work based on the novel by noted Peruvian writer Enrique Lopez Albujar.
From 1989 to 1993 Carlos Hayre served as Professor of Guitar Theory, Harmony and Solfege at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.
