Born in Kutaisi, Georgia, Vitali Imereli began playing violin as a talented five-year-old at a music school, later completing his education in 1979 at the National Music Academy in Tbilisi. During the period 1979-85, Vitali acted as teacher at the Tbilisi College of Music. From 1978 to 1991, he participated in a variety of jazz festivals in several locations from Georgia through Russia and Europe in general.
In 1992, Vitali moved to Finland. Performances then ranged from Germany and Sweden to various parts of Finland, with TV appearances and radio programs following. Vitali has played at the internationally renowned Pori Jazz Festival every year since 1991, as well as at other important festivals in Finland. May 1996 saw the release of his new album “Tribute to Staphane Grappelli”.
In May and June of this year Vitali was on tour with Rosenberg Trio performing in Turku and Helsinki, then continuing on to the Kajaani, Alandia and Pori Jazz Festivals. Later in July he enjoyed successful performances with Didier Lockwood and Rosenberg Trio in a Tribute to Stephane Grappelli at the North Sea Jazz Festival.

?Vitali Imereli masters the Grappelli (Stephane Grappelli) sound to the extent even the Maestro himself couldn?t tell who was playing. This Georgian-born violinist masters the modern styles as well.?
