After living in Los Angeles for many years jazz vocalist
Leslie Leslie and her husband pianist Gerard Hagen
followed a dream and relocated to Paris. They enjoy a
busy performance schedule which includes appearances
in cities such as London, (Royal College of Music, Pizza
Express SoHo Jazz Club) New York, (Joyce Theatre,
Lehman College) Paris, (Palais Des Congrés, Jazz Club
Etoile, Sunside-Sunset Jazz Club) Tokyo (Satin Doll, Life
Time Cafe, Adirondack Cafe, Far Out) Los Angeles,
(Smothers Theatre, Cerritos Center for the Performing
Arts, L.A. County Art Museum) San Francisco, (Jazz At
Pearl’s) Minneapolis, MN (Artist’s Quarter) Napa, CA
(Napa Valley Opera House) Irvine, CA (Barclay Theatre,
Verizon Wireless Amphitheater) Glendora, CA (Haugh
Performing Arts Center) Santa Fe, NM (Jazz At The
Center) and Albuquerque N.M. (The Outpost).
They have collectively recorded seven CD’s which have
received critical success and have been distributed in the
U.S., Japan and Europe. Their first recording “Of Two
Minds”(Surf Cove Jazz 100) features Leslie with the
Gerard Hagen Trio and several of Los Angeles’ finest jazz
musicians including Gary Foster, Ron Stout and Larry
Koonse. Having received considerable airplay on national
jazz radio programs, and charting at #28 on the national
jazz radio report CMJ, “Of Two Minds” was released in
Japan on SSJ Inc. where it received 5 stars in Swing
Journal magazine. In 2010 they released a follow up
recording “Keeper Of The Flame”(Surf Cove Jazz 101)
which features both Brazilian and Jazz music. It debuted
at #15 on the CMJ national radio report and has been
programmed on Sirius XM radio. “Of Two Minds” and
“Keeper Of The Flame” have received international radio
airplay and have been featured on several syndicated
radio shows including “Jazz With Bob Parlocha” and “Jazz
After Hours”. Leslie and Gerard released “Midnight
Sun” (Surf Cove Jazz 102) their third CD to critical
acclaim. It features Leslie and Gerard’s trio along with
guest artists Joey Sellers, trombone and Chuck Manning,
tenor sax. A 2011 performance in New York City
provided them with an opportunity to record tracks for
“Leslie Lewis & Gerard Hagen in New York” (Surf
Cove Jazz 104), a piano/vocal duo recording was
released in August 2013. In addition Leslie and Gerard
are featured on “Skylark” a track on “From California
With Love” (SSJ Records)a recording featuring number
of California based jazz artists that was released in Japan
as a vehicle to raise funds for Japanese Earthquake/
Tsunami relief efforts.

Leslie, a native of East Orange, New Jersey, has toured
as a featured jazz vocalist with the Cleveland Jazz
Orchestra, with members of the Duke Ellington
Orchestra, with Musique Sur La Mer Chamber Orchestra
in concert in London, as well as performances with Jazz
Tap Ensemble in New York and Los Angeles. She began
her career with a move to Los Angeles to perform as a
singer/dancer at Disneyland. Following engagements at
Disneyworld in Orlando FL and Opryland in Nashville TN
she came back to Los Angeles. Leslie was featured along
with Jack Sheldon on the Tom Kubis Big Band recording
“At Last” and expanded her career into acting roles in
films and television.

Gerard Hagen, is active as a performer, arranger,
producer and educator. Since 1995 Gerard has lead a
trio with drummer Jerry Kalaf and bassist Domenic
Genova. They have performed extensively including New
York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and have performed as
part of Jazz Tap Ensemble in Los Angeles and Musique
Sur La Mer Orchestra in London. The trio can be heard on
several recordings which have received international
airplay and have been in the top jazz recordings nation
wide;“Far Horizons” on Resurgent Music, “Stay
Tuned” on Sea Breeze Jazz Records. Both recordings
have been distributed in Japan and Europe as well as the
U.S. “Song For Leslie”, (Surf Cove Jazz 103) their latest
recording, was released on in 2012. Their performances
and recordings have received critical praise in L.A. Times,
Jazz Times, L.A. Jazz Scene, Jazz Improv Magazine,
Cadence Magazine, All About Jazz, All Music Guide, and
many more. Gerard was born in Bismarck, N.D. and has
earned a Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Music. Prior
relocating to Paris, he was an associate professor of jazz
piano at Saddleback College in southern California
