Founder and lead singer of ‘Heart Like a Wheel,’ Stella Crispo has been a sought-after singer and songwriter for many years. Her career has taken her from performing in high-profile bands to recording jingles and appearing in off-Broadway’s Tony ‘n’ Tina’s Wedding. Stella has been heard at Newark, NJ’s Performing Arts Center many times including giving a pre-show concert for Liza Minnelli and has performed the National Anthem at Prudential Center two years in a row. She is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music Preparatory Division, and has an undergraduate degree in Classical Voice and recently completed her Masters in Music. In September 2017, Stella performed at Dante Hall in Atlantic City, NJ in a tribute to Luciano Pavarotti with Italian tenor Augusto Celsi. As a songwriter, Stella began writing at an early age and continued throughout high school and college. Invited by an agent in Brescia, Italy to participate in the Sanremo Music Festival, Stella received rave reviews for the performance of one of her songs ‘Dream Come True’ that took her through the many rounds of the festival, landing her among the top remaining contestants. One of her other tracks, ‘Finally,’ has been frequently used as a wedding song. In 2010, Stella was asked by international artist Philippe Valy to write the anthem for a new anti-smoking campaign. ‘Day After Day’ was completed shortly after. Many songs later, Stella’s current library includes ‘Show Me,’ a song inspired by her son, and ‘The Best Christmas’ dedicated to those in the armed forces who are able to be home for Christmas.
‘Heart Like a Wheel’ is one of Stella’s many projects and emphasizes the early pop/rock career of her greatest influence, Linda Ronstadt. The band is comprised of seasoned professionals, and HLAW’s first show at B.B. King’s in Manhattan was a huge success. ‘Her music, her voice, her heart have forever left a print on mine.’ ‘Heart Like a Wheel’ will definitely leave a print on your heart and memory as well.
