From the time she was eleven years old growing up in a New Jersey suburb and singing Supremes? songs into a hand-held brush in front of a mirror, Michaele knew she wanted to be a recording artist. Great roots usually bring great stock and such is the case with Michaele?s family. Her talented father was a singer and musician, crooning standards at metropolitan venues with his upright bass. Many artists, musicians and theater performers were brought into the family home where Michaele was introduced to the sounds of Sinatra, Jobim, Nina Simone, Tony Bennett, as well as many others. As a child, Michaele took every opportunity to travel with her father into NYC to Manny?s Music, or to sit in on his Upper West Side vocal sessions. Moving to Manhattan after high school, Michaele spent most of her free time at local cafes and jazz clubs. She was introduced to great performers on the New York Jazz-Fusion scene and met her current Executive Producer Hoshea David Estrada and the two began writing together. They spent the next few years in the studio recording original songs in the fusion rock genre, but always with jazz underpinnings Michaele released her debut album ?Incantation? in 2007 that includes a guest appearance by sax sensation, Marion Meadows, on the lead single ?Slow Dance?. The album is a sensual mix of Brazilian, R&B and electro-dance trends, and seamlessly blends programmed tracks and live musicians. Notable on ?Incantation? are the exquisite arrangements and slick production of Mark Minchello (of Main Gazane fame) and beautifully crafted original songs (?Slow Dance?, ?Autumn?) as well as some distinctive twists on familiar covers such as ?Walk On By? and ?I Hear A Symphony?. ?Incantation means to create or conjure a mood, image or state of mind? says Michaele. ?For me, music at its very best is an internal journey that is both healing and transforming.? With the layered and lush background vocals, lyrical storylines, and most notably Michaele?s unique voice and writing style, ?Incantation? truly does succeed in casting a spell on its listeners. Riding the ?Incantation? momentum, Michaele made her West Coast debut in the world-famous wine country of Northern California where she was invited to perform by Smooth Jazz radio station, KJZY. Her Spring performance being well received by the locals, Michaele was invited back to perform in late summer at the 2007 Russian River Jazz Festival where Marion Meadows surprised her for an onstage slow-jam of her hit ?Slow Dance?. Many say that was the hit of the 2-day festival that featured Boney James, Poncho Sanchez, Chaka Kahn, Peabo Bryson, Norman Brown, Jeff Lorber and Marion Meadows. Following up on charting to number 36 on the smoothjazz.com Indie chart, the second single from Incantation, ?Cry Baby Blue,? also featuring Meadows? sensual sax, is slated for radio release in early April, 2008. Michaele is currently back in the studio with Producers Mark Minchello and Hoshea Estrada to begin work on her second album, tentatively tiltled ?Indigo Groove?
