Vinx (vocalist/percussionist) Oct. 11   Vinx (vocalist/percussionist) Oct. 11

Vinx (vocalist/percussionist) cooks on Saturday

Once upon a time (1990) in Santa Monica, CA, a famous musician (that would be Sting) wandered into a club to wait out the rain and was so enthralled with the performer on stage (that would be Vinx) that he signed him to a record deal and helped produce his debut album (that would be Rooms in My Fatha's House). Although he had a gig back in 1978 as a percussionist for Taj Mahal, Vinx was a world-class triple-jumper. In fact, in 1980 he posted the second best jump in the world, but the United States boycotted the Moscow Olympics, and after an injury at the 1984 Olympic trials in Los Angeles, Vinx embarked on his musical career as a vocalist and percussionist. He recorded and toured with the likes of Ernie Watts, Rickie Lee Jones, and Toni Childs before forming his own band of drummers and hitting Europe, where he played the Montreux Jazz Festival between Miles Davis and Wayne Shorter.

Joe Politi sings Sinatra!

Two shows
3 pm - only bar seats available.. call for reservations
7 pm limited availability; reserve today!
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Joe Politi grew up in an environment that nurtured a love for music. At the tender age of three, he began to sing the songs of Frank Sinatra and The Beatles. His father, Frank, bought him a new Selmer Mark VI saxophone and started taking him for weekly lesson .when he was seven.
A natural talent, Joe’s passion for music continued to grow, and he began to play professionally while still in high school. During his teenage years, Joe sang and played sax in a band called The World’s Finest. In 1977, he formed his own group called Pizzaz. The band played thousands of engagements over the next ten years and recorded their only studio single, also entitled Pizzaz.
Joe’s diversified musical career has encompassed singing on the TV soap opera, One Life to Live, to performing at charitable galas with the Sonny Mange Orchestra in Miami, Florida and playing at venues throughout New York.
Now, strictly focusing on his vocal skills, with an emphasis on the man called “Sinatra”, Joe Polii is a one man show. He captures Sinatra’s style and finesse through his rich tones, impeccable pitch, masterful phrasing and smooth delivery . A dynamic performer, Joe readily engages his audience with a repertoire from the Great American Songbook that ranges from romantic ballads to swinging jazz standards. Joe performs regularly at restaurants and clubs in the New York Metropolitan Area.

Mel Davis Halloween Show!!! Oct. 31   Mel Davis Halloween Show!!! Oct. 31

Mel Davis special Halloween show

Melvin Davis, recording artist, vocalist, keyboard player and organist extraordinaire, has understood the power of his hands to transport the sound of instruments from his imagination to a concert hall or nightclub full of eager twitching bodies for all of his life, dating back to childhood. This was when Melvin’s ears, residing in the multi-cultural city of Paterson, NJ, just 20 miles west of New York, dined on the sounds of musical greats like Dizzy Gillespie, Peggy Lee, John Coltrane, Jimmy McGriff, Alvin Valentine and so many more. He played his first piano recital at 9, and at 15, when cats his age were learning how to charm young ladies, Davis was sneaking into local night clubs, hoping to charm the Hammond B3.
The Hammond’s big band grooves, thanks to masters and club mentors such as George Benson, Larry Young, Jr., Brother Jack McDuff, Jimmy McGriff and Dr. Lonnie Smith, worked their way into Davis’ DNA. Eventually his hands were walking and talking good music. But 24 years ago, Davis lost the ability to play with his hands. Caught in the motorized belt of a fast-moving container-making machine where he worked to supplement his music income, a finger was ripped from his left hand, which was also split diagonally.
