Guitarist John Ehlis combines creative forces with saxophonist Craig Yaremko and percussionist Glen Velez for another spirited and energetic musical evening from the stage at Trumpets.

Most anyone with an affinity for World Music and/or hand drumming, is familiar with the mastery of Glen Velez.  A cultural traveller, Velez possesses an astonishing knowledge and command of rhythm coupled with an expansive array of techniques, textures and colors.

Each of these artists is an explorer with a genuine sense of curiosity.  As a trio, they generate a fresh and original sound, and as performers they are as engaging to see and to hear, as much for first time listeners, as for repeat audiences.

Drawn to traditional and folk music from around the world, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist John Ehlis blends the sounds of many cultures into his own style, one that is as rich, as it is varied.  He has performed with visionary artists ranging from saxophonists Oliver Lake and John Tchicai, to vocalists Marie Afonso, Loire Cotler and Olivia Foschi, Argentine guitarists Juan Falu and Quique Sinesi, singer/songwriter Scott E. Moore, Basque musicians Tapia and Leturria, Danish drummer Kresten Osgood, and Finnish saxophonist Mikko Innanen.

A dynamic performer on all saxophones, flutes and clarinets Craig Yaremko is a broad-minded-and-talented musician.  He has performed alongside jazz artists Geri Allen, Helio Alves, Jerry Bergonzi, Don Braden, Paulo Braga, Randy Brecker, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Candido, Jimmy Cobb, Paquito D’Rivera, and Ray Vega, as well as with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, New York City Symphony, and has backed-up such artists as Clay Aiken, Frankie Avalon, Aretha Franklin, Johnny Mathis and Frankie Valli.

A legendary figure amongst musicians and audiences world-wide, Glen Velez is the first percussionist to gain international recognition as a successful solo artist with frame drums.  His extensive array of frame drum innovations and sounds have inspired collaborations with an epic and eclectic list of renowned artists, including Steve Reich, the Paul Winter Consort, Suzanne Vega, Maya Beiser, Tan Dun and Pat Metheny.
